Hello everyone,
As a web developer and WordPress expert, I often use XAMPP to develop and test my projects locally before deploying them to a live server. One of the common issues I encounter when working with XAMPP is the limitation on file upload size. By default, XAMPP sets the maximum upload file size to 2MB, which can be a problem if you need to import large files, such as media libraries or database backups.
Fortunately, there is a simple solution to this problem. You can increase the maximum upload file size for XAMPP by editing the php.ini file. Here’s how to do it:
- Locate the php.ini file in your XAMPP installation directory. The file path should be something like: C:\xampp\php\php.ini
- Open the php.ini file in a text editor.
- Search for the following lines:
- upload_max_filesize = 2M
- post_max_size = 8M
- These lines define the maximum upload file size and the maximum size of a POST request, respectively.
- Change the values to the desired size. For example, if you want to increase the maximum upload file size to 20MB, you can set the values like this:
- upload_max_filesize = 20M
- post_max_size = 25M
- Note that the post_max_size value should be slightly larger than the upload_max_filesize value to account for other data in the request.
- Save the changes to the php.ini file and restart your Apache server in XAMPP.
That’s it! Now you should be able to upload larger files to your XAMPP localhost environment.
I hope this tip helps you in your web development work. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to leave a comment below.
This tutorial which is to increase upload file size in XAMPP Server is almost the same thing when you develop locally with Wampserver or Laragon server.
Happy coding !

There is absolutely no justification for an attack like this in our communities and we must all work together to bring those responsible to justice.
